Frequently asked questions
What is 310S stainless steel?
310S is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel identified as UNS S31008. Its alloy system is used for equipment and components that need oxidation resistance and strength at elevated temperatures.
Are 310S, UNS S31008 and EN 1.4845 automatically equivalent?
They are useful comparison references, but the purchase order should name the exact designation and governing product standard. Product form, composition limits, properties, dimensions and inspection requirements follow that ordered route.
Which 310S product forms can Hechuang Stainless Steel supply?
The focused 310S program covers plate, sheet, coil, strip, seamless or welded pipe and tube, and bar. Forgings, flanges, fittings and custom parts can also be reviewed from drawings and order requirements.
What temperature can 310S stainless steel handle?
There is no single temperature that suits every component. Use source-specific air-atmosphere guidance for initial screening, then review the temperature profile, atmosphere, load, cycling, section size, fabrication and design code for the application.
Can 310S be cut, formed and welded?
Yes. The supply route can include cut-to-length, slitting, laser, waterjet or plasma cutting, bending, rolling, machining and welding preparation. Joint design, filler, procedure qualification, cleaning and inspection should be set by the fabricator and project specification.
What inspection documents are available for a 310S order?
Orders can include an MTC linked to the supplied heat and ordered standard. EN 10204 3.1, PMI, dimensional or surface records, NDT and third-party inspection can be included when they are defined in the quotation and purchase order.
What information should I send for a 310S quotation?
Send the designation and product standard, product form, dimensions, quantity, delivery condition, surface or edge, service atmosphere, fabrication needs, inspection and certificate scope, packing, destination and required delivery date.
