State the selected designation, complete product standard, edition and purchaser specification in the RFQ and purchase description. Similar grade names are not automatically interchangeable.
Chemical Composition
309 is the non-S chromium-nickel heat-resistant grade. Its carbon requirements differ from 309S; order the exact product standard rather than assuming the two names describe the same material.

Mechanical Properties
For loaded furnace parts, creep and exposure time matter alongside room-temperature strength. A lower-carbon S grade is not automatically interchangeable with the corresponding non-S grade for a load-bearing design.
Room-temperature mechanical values depend on the ordered product form and standard. We will confirm the applicable values in the quotation and material documents.
Physical Properties

High-Temperature Characteristics
Air oxidation, cycling, sulfur-bearing gases and carburization are separate selection questions. Check the actual atmosphere before using a temperature screening value.

- MTC identifying the heat, grade, ordered standard and reported test results.
- Dimensional, surface, traceability and marking records specified by the purchase order.

- EN 10204 3.1 wording only when the issued certificate explicitly carries that type.
