How the result is calculated
- Nominal dimensions are normalized before calculation; metric and imperial displays represent the same stored values.
- 310S uses the reviewed room-temperature producer density shown below; other listed grades require an explicit custom density.
- Weight and length modes treat the coil as flat strip with uniform thickness and width.
- Outer diameter is an annulus-volume estimate, not a winding specification. Gaps, crown, telescoping, packing and actual density can change the delivered OD.
- Results are theoretical purchasing estimates, not certified, scale, invoicing or settlement values.
Worked examples
310S coil weight ↔ length
At 1.5 mm thick, 1,000 mm wide and 7,800 kg/m³, 500 m of nominal flat strip weighs 5,850 kg. Entering the same 5,850 kg returns 500 m before display rounding.
Compare available stainless coil and stainless strip supply forms.
310S annulus OD estimate
A 1,000 kg coil, 1,000 mm wide, with 508 mm ID and 7,800 kg/m³ density gives a theoretical 649.076 mm OD from annular volume.
Review the 310S grade basis, then confirm winding tolerances and packing with the supplier.
